…Musings
This is a list of random things that I’ve learned the hard way, aka: Things We Should Learn When We’re Young, but No One Teaches Us. They are in no particular order… just what popped out of my head.
(And this particular post has actually been floating around partially written for a few days, so I can easily get caught up on the challenge.) (Assuming I don’t read it 10,000 times and keep changing things.) (Cuz I do that.) (Part of my charm.)
- If you think you need mental therapy, you probably do. Go get it. There’s no shame in getting help.
- Don’t be afraid to say ‘I love you’.
- Save a little bit of money when you have a little. Save a lot when you have a lot. You’ll need it later, more than you need it now.
- Sending just $20 a month to your mortgage payment can reduce how much interest you pay over time.
- Even if you think you can’t, you probably can.
- If you think you can’t, you probably can’t.
- You think you’ll remember important things. You won’t. Keep a journal, even if it’s simple, with important dates, as well as your address and work history.
- Thinking positive doesn’t always work. Sometimes you need professional help.
- Ask for help.
- Give when, what you can. Even small amounts can make a difference.
- Learn to say no.
- You don’t have to take the first job that’s offered to you.
- You don’t have to take the second one, either.
- Money isn’t everything.
- Money helps.
- Be true to yourself.
- Listen to your gut.
- Love yourself.
- Pay off your credit card, every month.
- If you are late accidentally (and rarely) late on a bill, and they charge you a late fee, call and ask if they’ll remove it. You never know.
- You never know unless you ask.
- If someone says no, thank them graciously for considering it.
- Don’t live beyond your means.
- Shop thrift stores. It’s a bargain and a treasure hunt and comedy show, all in one.
- Stop and smell the flowers. No, really. Smell them.
- Don’t be afraid to do whatever it is you’re dreaming of.
- Forgiveness isn’t always as difficult as it seems.
- Forgiving doesn’t mean “forgetting”.
- You don’t have to do everything your doctor tells you to.
- It’s never too late.
- Laugh.
- Tell the people who are important to you that they are.
- Life can change in an instance.
- You are not special. You are no more special than anyone else, but everyone is special.
- The universe brings you the people you need when you need them. The universe can also take people away.
- Letting go is extremely difficult.
- If you don’t feel comfortable doing something, you don’t have to.
- But sometimes, you have to do things you don’t want to because it’s the right thing to do.
- Always do the right thing. Not the easiest thing. Not the cheapest thing. The right thing.
- The vast majority of my regrets are for things I didn’t do.
- Live without regrets.
- “You get what you pay for” is not always true.
- It’s okay to splurge on yourself every once in a while.
- People are far more complex than they seem.
- This, too, shall pass.
- Don’t email your resume from your current job email.
- If your cover letter says you can do something, make sure it’s reflected in your resume.
- Don’t just stop taking your meds, whatever they are.
- Love is not actually *all* you need. You also need trust, understanding, and a commitment to work through the hard times.
- We all die in the end.

Whew!!! If I can remember just a few of those I’ll be happy

Hi fellow AtoZer. Thanks for stopping by!
You are very welcome I am working my way down the list slowly.
Lots of good things on that list. You think you’ll remember important things. You can’t. Write them down. A good lesson learned over years of not doing that.
Thanks!

Thanks for stopping by! ๐
Love your list! Wish someone would have told me these things years ago. Although, I was stubborn, doubt I would have listened. =)
That is definitely a possibility…. Also, I’m sure you knew everything back then. ๐
Thank you for stopping by!
J here, stopping by from the #atozchallenge
Great post. I’m looking forward to more. Congratulations on making it past the first half.

Great musings! 41 is hard. 44 is oh so true. 23 should really be taught, because so many people don’t know how to do that.
Thank you for stopping by! And yeah, all of them are hard at one point or another in life… and some require constant re-learning.
This is the weekend before the last full week of A to Z. Youโre amazing for staying with us this long. Thanks for your commitment. Youโre almost there. This event only happens once a year, so rest up and get ready for the home stretch!

Thank you for the encouragement! I have fallen a wee bit behind, but I shall catch up and shall be triumphant!
I live by 41 and 45. I just recently added 7! Age and brain cells don’t mix ๐

… and when we’re young, we think we’ll remember everything!
I like your list! I had to laugh at the first one. Sometimes I feel like I need a little mental help. But such is the life of a mom!
Indeed! What is it they say? Kids are just little obnoxious drunk people?
Thanks for visiting my blog!
Great list! I especially like #2 and #18!
Thank you! And thanks for visiting my blog!
Good tip about the mortgage!
Thanks! Hope it helps at least one or two people!
