{"id":491,"date":"2012-09-07T04:49:02","date_gmt":"2012-09-07T04:49:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dsavannah.com\/blog\/?p=491"},"modified":"2012-09-07T04:49:02","modified_gmt":"2012-09-07T04:49:02","slug":"shining-light-intro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dsavannah.com\/blog\/index.php\/shining-light-intro\/","title":{"rendered":"Shining the Light on Dark Places: intro"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>\u201cThe only thing necessary<br \/>\nfor evil to flourish<br \/>\nis for good men to do nothing.\u201d<br \/>\n~ Edmund Burke<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I\u2019m sorry to have to tell you this, dear readers, but some horrible stuff happens in this world of ours.<\/p>\n<p>Kids get sexually, emotionally, and physically abused.<\/p>\n<p>Women get raped. Kids get raped. Men get raped.<\/p>\n<p>Women get abused by the person who is supposed to take care of them. And they stay, because they don\u2019t think they have a choice.<\/p>\n<p>People get treated like s*&amp;# and their dreams trampled into the dirt.<\/p>\n<p>I believe that part of my job here on this planet is to talk about these bad things. To shine light on those dark places, and illuminate them. If we can\u2019t see them, we can\u2019t fix them. If we see them, and turn a blind eye, we\u2019re just as culpable.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I\u2019m going to do something. And what I\u2019m gonna do is write. I\u2019m gonna shine my light, my words, my being, on the dark places. It\u2019s gonna hurt, because this darkness is part of my story. I know it intimately.<\/p>\n<p>So it won\u2019t be too overwhelming, I\u2019m going to write these in short(ish) posts, with a specific topic, and post them maybe once a week. It might hurt you to read them. But I hope you do so anyway. And comment, and share.
