The Questions, 21-31<\/h2>\n

30. What\u2019s the most expensive crap you own that you can\u2019t live without?<\/h3>\n

My writing gear. The iMac is pretty important and my upcoming novel was written entirely on an iPad while small children scrambled at my feet.<\/p>\n

(dSavannah note<\/span>: Scrambling to get away, I\u2019m guessing.)<\/p>\n

31. What aspect of your art gets you passionate, gets you excited? What gets you pumped?<\/h3>\n

Doing it like no one else has ever done it. But! In a way that isn\u2019t off-putting to a stranger who may stumble across it in the dark.<\/p>\n

(dSavannah note<\/span>: The thought of stumbling across you in the dark makes me shudder. And not in a good way.)<\/p>\n

32. Given the uphill climb to get recognition and sales why do you keep coming back?<\/h3>\n

I\u2019m a sucker for punishment. No, really, there\u2019s nothing else I was truly meant to do but create things, tell stories and I will keep doing it until someone with real authority tells me to stop. See previous question regarding Hell and the convenient clerical error.<\/p>\n

33. Why do you create in your medium\/genre? What about it speaks to you?<\/h3>\n

I see the darkness and light in people. Life is the most wondrous form of art but it comes in such a mixed palette. As cheeseball as it sounds, I want to find some bit of truth in what the hell we\u2019re doing on this planet.<\/p>\n

(dSavannah note<\/span>: Have you found it yet? Cuz I\u2019m really anxious to know.)<\/p>\n

34. Why did you agree to this interview?<\/h3>\n

I like Debbie! She gets my sense of humour. Or at least she\u2019s a convincing liar about it.<\/p>\n

(dSavannah note<\/span>: I\u2019m not that good of a liar. And I adore your sense of humor. See Part 1<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

35. Tell me one random fact about you that not a lot of people know.<\/h3>\n

I hate myself for not flossing as much as I know I should.<\/p>\n

(dSavannah note<\/span>: Hate? That\u2019s a rather strong word. I mean, it\u2019s just your teeth. And your ability to keep them.)<\/p>\n

36. What is the first thing you remember creating as a child? Do you still have it?<\/h3>\n

The first thing I was proud of was drawing a figure of a man that actually looked like a man. My older brother taught me and he was happy and pleased that mine looked better than his. I was three or four at the time.<\/p>\n

37. If you could redo one conversation from your past, what would it be and who with?<\/h3>\n

There are so many! That\u2019s the power of being a writer. You can edit your protagonist\u2019s dialogue until its retro-actively perfect. And, if you\u2019re a sadist\/realist, you can still let the characters make those verbal mistakes… because it echoes the ones you made in your life.<\/p>\n

(dSavannah note<\/span>: I\u2019m sure one of those re-dos would be the first chat we had\u2026like, you\u2019d probably skip it.)<\/p>\n

38. What would you do if you could make yourself invisible?<\/h3>\n

Sit in rooms with people and watch how they behave when they believe no one is watching. I do it anyway — without the super power — but somehow I think the Observer\u2019s Effect works against the true nature of things.<\/p>\n

39. What super power do you wish you had?<\/h3>\n

The ability to pause time around me, catch up on the necessities of life, then flick time back on and enjoy my children, the weather, the world and the people around me.<\/p>\n

40. Which one of these questions would you like me to answer?<\/h3>\n

Debbie asked me why I agreed to the interview. I\u2019d like to hear why it occurred to her it might be a good idea to ask me. And I hope to core-earth Hell that it wasn\u2019t just because she needed a slot filled on the ol\u2019 blog schedule.<\/p>\n

dSavannah response<\/span><\/strong>: Okay. Well. This is difficult for me. You know, to admit, that I asked him\u2026<\/p>\n

Actually, that\u2019s not why. I wanted him to squirm a little. Did it work?<\/p>\n

The truth is, I like(d) Jason\u2019s sense of humor. And his ability to respond to a barbed comment with a barbed comment of his own. And his ability to make me laugh. Like I said in Part 1<\/a>, the ask was completely impulsive, the minute I saw that Jason\u2019s a writerly type. I hope you all have enjoyed reading his answers as much as I did!<\/p>\n
