Portfolio: Ozark Arts Council ~ Events with Nationally Syndicated Cartoonist and Swing Band

First Federal Bank Banking Solutions Brochure

The Ozark Arts Council is the owner and operator of the historic 1929 Lyric Theater in Harrison, Ark. Funds raised are used to maintain the theater and allow the OAC to host a variety of events, including plays, concerts, art exhibits, and educational workshops.

In November 2010, I worked with nationally syndicated cartoonist and author Jeff Koterba from the Omaha World Herald to visit Harrison. Together, we created a variety of community events, including an exhibit of his editorial cartoons in the OAC's exhibit space, the Oak Leaf Gallery, a talk to high school students, a lecture, and a concert with his swing band, the Prairie Cats.

I applied for and received a sponsorship from the Harrison Convention and Visitors Bureau.
I promoted the event with an appearance at the Harrison Rotary, a page on the website, the
e-newsletter distributed to over 2,500 subscribers, a poster for Jeff's events (PDF) and another for
the concert (PDF), and a press release (PDF).

I garnered a full-page article in the Harrison Daily Times and a two-page spread in What's Up, a publication of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. I also took photos of all the events (above, except for headshot of Jeff) and distributed them on Facebook, to the media, etc.
