#FictionFriday: The Family Business

blog_logo_FictionFriday

dSavannah note: Thank you to all of twelve of you {per my site stats} who stopped by last week and read my first entry for #FictionFriday. I really appreciate it, more than you know. I also appreciate your comments. Yes, the accent was difficult to read, but it was also difficult to write. I actually ended up sorting every word in the story to make sure I spelled everything wrong… consistently. It was, as one of you pointed out, to show how bad off society has gotten. Education has slipped; it’s a wonder my poor {unnamed} character can write at all. A couple of you (thanks writer pals Gareth and Jerry) said you wanted to read more in that world, which is something I had … Continue reading

#FictionFriday: Looking for Point Fair

blog_logo_FictionFriday

dSavannah note: I’ve been thinking awhile of publishing a series of my stories on Fridays, and calling it #FictionFriday (original, I know). {Upon reflection, I thought maybe I’d gotten it from award-winning writer and editor, Kristine┬áKathryn┬áRusch, but turns out her site offers Free Fiction Mondays. As well as really informative Business Musings for writers. So, I have no idea where I snagged that idea. Thank you to whoever it was.} I have a TON of stories I’ve written, and I might as well do something with them. Yes, I should probably be polishing them up and submitting them to anthologies and contests, but some days (yay, #InvisibleIllness!) I just haven’t got the … wherewithall. And who knows? Maybe I’ll get inspired and start actually writing … Continue reading

Book launch for The Wolves of Dynamo by Gareth S. Young

This is Gareth.

As y’all know, I’ve been sick, and my illness(es) mean that I’m chronically fatigued and can’t focus on much. Even on books. Which sucks, since I’ve always been a huge reader, and not being able to read is quite the … {insert bad word of your choice}. So my pal Gareth S. Young sent me an ARC of his book, The Wolves of Dynamo, a few weeks back. An electronic document. This is important for you to know for a couple reasons: 1) although I have a Kindle, I pretty much just use it for playing games and 2) I have innumerable books for Kindle that I haven’t read. Which leads to: 3) I uploaded the book to my Kindle, and idly started reading it, … Continue reading

Celebrate my #BlogAversary! – Day 5

blog_header

It’s now Day 5 of my #BlogAversary and #TriviaContest! This celebration has *flown* by. Only *two* more days, and then I get to draw a bunch of people’s names (will yours be one of them?!?!) and give away lots of cool prizes, donated by lots of cool people! And yes, I’m posting a little early for today ~ technically, I should be posting at midnight, when the day actually turns over to Saturday, but I’m on a mini-vacation at the most wonderful place on earth (the coast of Georgia) {celebrating my 5th wedding anniversary with my hubby, per yesterday’s post}, and my access to the internet is dependent on when McD’s is open ~ only until midnight. (Starbucks is an old fuddy duddy, apparently; they … Continue reading

Celebrate my #BlogAversary! – Day 4

blog_header

It’s now Day 4 of my #BlogAversary and #TriviaContest! Thank you SOOO much to everyone who has been playing and sharing! On a personal note, today (8/8, the day I’m writing this, not the publish day), I am celebrating my 5th wedding anniversary. Before Mike & I got married, I thought it would be cool to make these signs ~ we’d take pictures with them and use ‘em as our thank-you cards. Hubs and I even created them together, and as he said today, we had a lot of fun doing so. Unfortunately, the day we *actually* got married (8/8/8), it poured rain, a HUGE storm, and we didn’t get to use our signs. Today, five years later, we returned to the scene of the … Continue reading
