The Questions with Joy Ross Davis: writer

Joy_Ross_Davis

Poor Joy. I feel so terrible. I asked quite a while back for people to answer The Questions and Joy kindly answered. Like three years ago. And, my life… happened, or stopped happening, as the case may be. Back then, Joy only had one book out, Countenance, “a suspenseful yet heartfelt story full of intrigue and unexpected revelations, where magic is made in the kitchen and angels can fall in love.” Now she has, erm, eleven! books listed on Amazon! Which just goes to show what can happen if you put your mind to it, and write. You’ve waited long enough for them, so here are Joy’s answers to: The Questions 8. Your favorite book growing up? Your favorite book now? When I was 12, … Continue reading

Book launch for The Wolves of Dynamo by Gareth S. Young

This is Gareth.

As y’all know, I’ve been sick, and my illness(es) mean that I’m chronically fatigued and can’t focus on much. Even on books. Which sucks, since I’ve always been a huge reader, and not being able to read is quite the … {insert bad word of your choice}. So my pal Gareth S. Young sent me an ARC of his book, The Wolves of Dynamo, a few weeks back. An electronic document. This is important for you to know for a couple reasons: 1) although I have a Kindle, I pretty much just use it for playing games and 2) I have innumerable books for Kindle that I haven’t read. Which leads to: 3) I uploaded the book to my Kindle, and idly started reading it, … Continue reading

The Questions with A. Carina Barry: writer

post_header_Carina

In the not-so-long ago, I met Carina via some other online writer friends, and she runs one of the online writers’ groups I belong to. For some reason (because I’m that cool, I guess), she asked me to edit a couple of her stories for her book The Under-Circus and Other Tales. The Under-Circus is a very intriguing and fun setting, and I hope she and her husband Robert re-visit it again for another book. Looking back, I have no idea how I managed to do the edits that I, erm, managed to do, because I was also teaching full time. I even asked her to answer The Questions well over a year ago, and I’m finally able to get to posting them. So, I’ll … Continue reading

The Questions with Chuck Walsh: writer

A_Splintered_Dream_sm

A long time ago (late 2012) and far away (Arkansas), I worked for a publisher doing book editing. I got assigned a baseball book by this dude named Chuck Walsh. And, except for my childhood crush on the Braves, I didn’t know a thing about baseball. Which I’m sure drove Chuck nuts, as I was all the time asking him questions like, “What is this {weird baseball term I don’t know}?” Except, lo and behold, I fell in love with this book. Seriously. Fell. In. LOVE. Because this book, A Splintered Dream, is way more than “just” a baseball book. It’s a book about second chances. And heart. And soul. And sadness. And love. And death. And life. And family. And lemme tell you, I … Continue reading

Orange is *still* Orange ~ #TeamOrange!

orange_blog_header_06062014

I am a proud member of #TeamOrange, a group of writers who banded together in 2012 to create the anthology Orange Karen: A Tribute to a Warrior, with all proceeds going to help fellow writer Karen DeLabar and her family pay for medical expenses associated with her bout with Toxic Shock Syndrome. We released the anthology to great fanfare in April 2013. It’s been a while since I’ve promoted it, and I think it’s time to do so again. Fellow author and anthology compiler Christina Esdon inspired this post with these words on her Facebook page: “Hiya friends, as we gear up for summer vacations and enjoying the sunshine, and enjoying life, it makes me think about someone I know who almost lost her life … Continue reading

#BlogAversary Winners!

#BlogAversary Thank You

Now, as I said in the rules on Day 1, incorrect answers were discarded. AND, because I can, I decided that the two people who entered *every* *single* *day* (Betsy M. and Christopher C.) should get bonus prizes. AND, again, because I can, and since I didn’t have enough entrants (because of the aforementioned incorrect answers), I combined or removed a few of the prizes. All the winners received emails on Wednesday, and I will contact the authors/artists as I hear back. Again, thank you thank you! to all the authors and artists who donated prizes, and to everyone who shared my contest, and to everyone who played! You’re ALL winners in my book! Prize Winners!
