grumpy_season

Well, y’all may have noticed I haven’t posted in a while.  I even got kicked off the Insecure Writers Support Group blog hop list (as I should be). Let’s just say I’ve been busy. And I haven’t had the brain power to blog. I still don’t. But, the holidays are upon us, and although I can’t financially support all my friends who are creators, artists & writers, I can certainly tell you about them, in my Holiday Gift Guide, 2016. Enjoy. And #SupportCreatorsWritersAndArtists. And give some really awesome gifts in the process. 1 #Artist Diego Jourdan Pereira Adult #ColoringBooks! I Mustache You Some Questions

So, Mark Ethridge tagged me for the Mustache Survey (or the “Four Answers” survey), which is also going around Facebook, and I decided to play along on this here blog. Here’s my answered survey. And yeah, I’m sure you were DYING to know my answers. You’re welcome.   Four Names People Call Me Other Than My Real Name: Kitten (hubs calls me that, or Sea Spook) Dr. Jorge (my students called me that; tho I am not a Doctor, nor do I play one on TV) Cakes (long story) Grandma Moses (due to my crocheting; it was a mean thing kids called me long ago) Four Jobs I’ve Had: Floral department at Winn-Dixie (grocery store); also deli, where I made all the signs and created … Continue reading

Some life-affirming projects

philip_learningtolove

I am blessed enough to be involved with a group of people in Canada (small world!) who are doing some really great things, and I wanted to share the info with my faithful readers. Supporting these projects with shares and money would be welcome. But if you’re able to glean something to help yourownself in your personal life, so much the better. #ShiningALight Philip Be’er and Markus Fahrner are in the midst of real-izing a huge project to bring a new book to life aimed at creating freedom from emotional wounds whose roots go back to childhood. They are looking for supporters and investors of every amount to bring their work to fruition! Emotional safety unlocks a door to gentle and accelerated personal growth. Learning … Continue reading

So you want to be a writer…. (pt 1)

My old typewriter, that I purchased at an antique store in the middle of nowhere, Arkansas, for a mere $35. Every writer needs an old typewriter, mainly to remind us how far we

I signed up for The Insecure Writers Support Group (#IWSG) a while ago, which comes with the obligation to write a post the first Wednesday of every month. I signed up for several reasons: 1, 2, 3 ~ I’m a writer, I’m insecure, and I have opinions about writing that I want to share; 4 ~ I’m an editor; 5 ~ I figured it would force me to write a blog post at least once a month. It didn’t. And I got removed from the list of bloggers, as I should be, considering the last and first #IWSG post I wrote was in May. So, I signed up again and I’m trying again. Can’t promise there will be a post on writing the first Wednesday … Continue reading

K is for…

K

…Kaleidoscope Isn’t that a fabulous word? Fun to say, hard to spell, but fabulous? It sounds just like what it is: a way to see beautiful patterns thanks to reflections off mirrors. More on that in a bit… first, why I’m two days late writing this (and the next two) post(s). In my D post, I talked about my health issues. Over the weekend, I stupidly did “normal” stuff (grocery shopping, unpacking some boxes)… and I shouldn’t have. Currently, any sort of “extra” physical activity, no matter how good I’m feeling at the moment, ends up causing me extreme pain. This extreme pain – which is *all over* my body – leads to horrible insomnia, which leads to sleep deprivation… and if you’ve never experienced … Continue reading

Orange is *still* Orange ~ #TeamOrange!

orange_blog_header_06062014

I am a proud member of #TeamOrange, a group of writers who banded together in 2012 to create the anthology Orange Karen: A Tribute to a Warrior, with all proceeds going to help fellow writer Karen DeLabar and her family pay for medical expenses associated with her bout with Toxic Shock Syndrome. We released the anthology to great fanfare in April 2013. It’s been a while since I’ve promoted it, and I think it’s time to do so again. Fellow author and anthology compiler Christina Esdon inspired this post with these words on her Facebook page: “Hiya friends, as we gear up for summer vacations and enjoying the sunshine, and enjoying life, it makes me think about someone I know who almost lost her life … Continue reading

W is for…

W

The wind blew, and you won’t believe what happened next! Just kidding…  I’m obviously poking fun at all of the videos that plague my Facebook feed. I mean, some of the videos are actually super-cute, but actually, having not just fallen off the turnip truck, I can believe what happens next! And that hyperbolic headline writing just makes me not watch said video. Which is sad, cuz that video could indeed be the very video that actually does change my life for the better. (Tho I doubt it.) (And I guess said “videos” could have been my “V” topic, but oh well.) Anywho, I digress: W is for Word Origins If you haven’t figured it out yet, I love love love words. (Hence my tagline: … Continue reading
