I Mustache You Some Questions

So, Mark Ethridge tagged me for the Mustache Survey (or the “Four Answers” survey), which is also going around Facebook, and I decided to play along on this here blog. Here’s my answered survey. And yeah, I’m sure you were DYING to know my answers. You’re welcome.   Four Names People Call Me Other Than My Real Name: Kitten (hubs calls me that, or Sea Spook) Dr. Jorge (my students called me that; tho I am not a Doctor, nor do I play one on TV) Cakes (long story) Grandma Moses (due to my crocheting; it was a mean thing kids called me long ago) Four Jobs I’ve Had: Floral department at Winn-Dixie (grocery store); also deli, where I made all the signs and created … Continue reading

Back to Back…

Random pic of signs in Arkansas. Posted with this erm, post, since it

Get it? Get it? Yes, I crack myself up. (Also a pun. Get it? Get it?!?!?) {…Never mind…} The first time I met hubs’ mama’s brother, the incorrigible Uncle Noel, the first thing he said to me was “I swore when I got old I wouldn’t go on and on about my health problems”… and then he proceeded to tell us all about his broke back. Now, I never promised nor swore nor affirmed in any way that I would never discuss health issues, but I also never expected that I would wax poetic about it either. But since I done did, I guess I oughta write a follow up to my last post, in which I described and belabored my back pain, to let … Continue reading

Z is for…

Z

Z is for Zee End The letter Z is for many things, but in my world (at least today), it stands for three things in particular. Of course, it doesn’t really stand for “Zee End”… just the end of this blogging challenge, the end of April, the end of cheering on my challenge partner, Chad Clark, who in addition to his usual writing, did this challenge with me and wrote stories about 26 monsters, most of which (whom?) I’d never even heard of. So I learned a lot. (I’ll save my ramblings on the challenge for the “Reflections” post, which is to be published on May 5. And in a couple days, I’ll publish Chad’s answers to The Questions, so you can learn more about … Continue reading

W is for…

W

The wind blew, and you won’t believe what happened next! Just kidding…  I’m obviously poking fun at all of the videos that plague my Facebook feed. I mean, some of the videos are actually super-cute, but actually, having not just fallen off the turnip truck, I can believe what happens next! And that hyperbolic headline writing just makes me not watch said video. Which is sad, cuz that video could indeed be the very video that actually does change my life for the better. (Tho I doubt it.) (And I guess said “videos” could have been my “V” topic, but oh well.) Anywho, I digress: W is for Word Origins If you haven’t figured it out yet, I love love love words. (Hence my tagline: … Continue reading

L is for…

L

So on Saturday, I wrote about Kissing. Today, for “L” day, I shall write about a similar and related topic, but first, I’d like you to watch this video by the incomparable Brad Paisley from his 2003 album Mud on the Tires. L is for Love and Lies A lot of people would say that you should never ever ever lie, regardless of the circumstances, and that if you love someone, and even if you don’t, honesty is always the best policy. However, I disagree with that sentiment, and agree with Brad’s philosophy (read the full lyrics to the song if’n you want): ‘Cause that’s love, you’ll see We all commit a little bit of perjury Ah but that’s no crime if you ask me, … Continue reading

K is for…

K

K is for Kissing I know, I know what you’re thinking… And yes, yes it is. But I’ll keep it short. The blog post, that is, so I can go kiss on my husband. As the marvelous Jill Conner Browne said in one of her books, I don’t remember which (but it doesn’t matter – go read all of ‘em… you won’t be sorry) (nor do I remember the exact quote) (and buggeroo if I can’t find it right now), anywho, she said something along the lines that kissing is a fabulous way to release stress and show love to your loved one. If you’re feeling mad at your spouse/significant other, go give ‘em a big ole smooch, right on the mouth, and tell me if … Continue reading

I is for…

I

It’s Day 9 of the #AtoZchallenge2014, and once again I am posting late. Late, late, late. (I sound like a character in Alice in Wonderland.) (And heavens knows I’m all mad here…) I’m sure my three (or four?) faithful readers are wondering what I chose to write about today. Was it “I” as in “me, myself, and __”? Nope.  (Tho, of course, “I” shall creep in here, as it is “I” writing this post…) Was it insatiable? Invariably? Indubitably? Illnesses, invoices, ill-conceived haircuts? Nope, nope, nope. Nope. I is for Interstates I bet you didn’t see that one coming, did you? As I drove home today from school, on the lovely “connector”, as we Atlantans call the bit where Interstate 85 and Interstate 75 merge … Continue reading
